The bottom line: Sun City Anthem can offer free fitness classes to all residents while actually generating revenuethrough SilverSneakers reimbursements. This isn't a cost — it's an investment in our community's health that pays for itself.
Bring Back the Unlimited Class Pass
Before 2019, residents could buy an unlimited class pass for $25/month or 45 classes for $45. We need to restore this affordable option that kept our community active and healthy.
Become a SilverSneakers Affiliate
The majority of SCA members are eligible for SilverSneakers through Medicare Advantage plans. As an affiliate, SCA would receive $3/visit reimbursement up to $30/month per member. This GENERATES revenue instead of costing money.
Make Group Classes Free for All Residents
Using SilverSneakers revenue plus the restored 20% Board subsidy, we can eliminate class fees entirely. Fitness shouldn't be a luxury — it's how we prevent injuries and delay degenerative diseases.
Reactivate the Fitness Committee
An owner-led Fitness Committee should manage resources and expand offerings. The people who USE the facilities should have a voice in how they're run.
Automate Class Registration
Eliminate the manual registration process. Modern scheduling software reduces administrative burden and removes the need for an assistant fitness director position.
Fitness Director & Assistant Should Teach Classes
Before 2017, fitness staff taught classes as part of their duties. We're paying for their expertise — residents should benefit from it directly.
